Five Minute Fridays - Lost

I'm again doing this on Saturday...so its a six minute saturday for me....linking up one day late with Lisa Jo Baker's word prompt LOST http://lisajobaker.com

There we were returning fathers day presents like usual when I try to buy clothes for my husband... and they don't work out...
Meredith and Madelyn were hiding between the clothing racks...in a veritable  polo shirt jungle peeking out behind plaids and Ralph Lauren checks...
I get that this is fun...I know it... I remember doing it...but it is not so fun for the mama...when the child goes silent hidden in a forrest of crisp collars and beach tees...
I let them do it for a minute and admonished that they better get out...and now.  We were going down another aisle..

Meredith made her way out and followed...
Madelyn didn't ...we continued on and she came out and did't see us...
I heard her four year old fear whimpers...."Mama!!Mama!!" she jumped out screaming...disoriented running the complete opposite…

You Never Know...Coffee For Your Heart, Words of Life Wednesdays

It's been a busy week now time for a quick pause ...i'm linking up with Holley Gerth's Coffee for Your Heart.... http://holleygerth.com

Driving familiar streets...there we sat in my chipped paint off the hood van...
My sister, my forever side-kick for life was there with her feet vying for floor board space
She's stiff competition between baby wipes, my mammoth mama bag, and  some strays... like sunblock and water bottles.
She's cool like that..."Move the stuff back." I say...and she says nada and continues on her train of thought...

We get those moments of deep in the middle of kids singing "Deep & Wide" and screaming as they go through tunnels...

"Do you think I made a difference?" she asks... she asks with hope in her heart....hope that she barely believes is there...but she so wants to know is true...Hope that she made a difference. Hope that the last 11 months counted for something...something good.  That all that first year t…

FiveMinuteFridays-Release

It's Saturday, not Friday...so maybe I should call this six minute saturdays :)  I started my post yesterday with Lisa Jo Baker's word for the week "release" and thats just what i had to do...release. relax. go with the flow and try for another day....
If motherhood is also known as the ministry of interruptions than I definitely ministered (happily) yesterday....so here I am revisiting the word early on Saturday with morning birds calling, gutters dripping, and puddles shining with sky clearing sun that promises a beautifully steamy June day....

The more i walk down the fast and at the same time slow steps of being a mama...or actually just living for that matter...the more I have to let go of things "just so" ....
Release preconceived notions....
Release mandatory to do lists
Release seemingly perfect
Release expectations
Release a day

Because you area Daddy….I am a mommy

A child…yes it takes two…it’s not from one without the other…no matter who it comes out looking like or acting like….whose hair color dominates or whose chin dimples, or whose skin colors the cheeks…. No matter the features, no matter the laugh, no matter the quirks… Two threads of DNA from two representing people tightly thread through every cell of new DNA at the literal moment of their meeting womb side….and create a brand new person that has never been and never will be again….
It always takes two…
God is always pursing relationship, pursuing closeness, pursuing intimacy….and remarkably in the literal act of recreating life He requires the coming together of two…who couldn’t without the other….New life can’t be created in isolation…Even Jesus created the world in the fellowship of The Trinity…
Father’s Day is this weekend and I wanted to say thank you for all of the ways I am now a mommy because you are a daddy…..
For the first shopping trip I let…

Five Minute Fridays - Messenger

Messenger
Its Five Minute Fridays with Lisa Jo and the word is Messenger – http://lisajobaker.com

I’ve had this note jotted down in my journal for a while…and its all about messages…heart messages…so I think it fits the word…
A few weeks ago I wore fatigue like a sleepy necklace…all the short nights stringing together to leave me dangling…the dark beads matching the smudges under my eyes…agreeing with what I knew and what someone recently observed, “You look tired.”
I felt spent in more ways than one…physically…emotionally… and then it came…when I needed it…His message of encouragement… I was pouring water over sudsy heads draining out the lavender bubbles of twilight bath time and I heard my phone announce a message.
After I read it, I smiled… God always knows when I really need to hear His words of concern. My friend was the messenger. She hadn’t known of course but God knew and put me in her mind and I read the short words of love and care and they ran over my heart warm and clean …

Perfect Moments hidden in crazy loud chaos

I'm linking up with Holley Gerth's Coffee for you Heart Wednesday's...a space where you are supposed to pause, reflect, and write some refreshment for someone else...and probably for yourself too...

Wednesdays have traditionally been my crazy day....for years now...being married to a youth pastor means that Wednesdays are busy days....sometimes very busy days...in the past I would rush home from my job and speed to church...then it was my time to spend in the nursery with a baby on my hip and then youth hang out time...then Wednesdays were filled with picking youth up from school and then taking them home to make dinner as we chat about their teenage life over the loud noises of my children jumping off couches, jumping into their arms...and jumping into their hearts...
Its great...its been a source of growth for all of us, joy, friendship, and love...and also a source of dog tired Wednesday evenings after the house comes to a grinding halt at ten minutes after ten o clock.…

Five Minute Fridays #Hands

It's Five Minute Friday with Lisa Jo Baker
the word prompt is ... Hands

I wrote this poem quite a while ago and thought I'd fish it out for today....I wrote it as a poem for my oldest little girl...

http://lisajobaker.com

Her Hands were always warm, fingers long
Her nails always pretty, lady like
Her Hands wore green gritty garden gloves and pushed her damp hair from her head in sun bright mornings
Her Hands pressed flour and shortening, molding biscuits
Her hands made crazy birthday cakes sometimes electric colored and three tier towers. ridiculous but fun....
Her hands always brushed my hair, gentle..never hurried
Her hands always picked up all our toys...never complaining of the mess
These hands are my mama's
Hands that made me know love, made me know that love is always doing, always creating, always making...and most of all that love tries to be FUN.

His Hands gripped golf clubs and tried to explain the proper swing to two little girls that couldn't ever get it qui…
